THE 20 Year Anniversary of THIS website

Vor nunmehr 20 Jahren, am 01.04.1999 ging www.reitermania.de offiziell ans Netz. Ich kann mich noch erinnern, wie ich zweimal pro Woche ins Rechenzentrum der Universität Jena ging, um dort meine elekrische Post "abzuholen". Es fühlt sich ein wenig surreal an, wenn man sich an diese Zeit erinnert. Das damals "neue Ding" namens Internet überrollte alles und jeden schneller, als man es je für möglich gehalten hätte. Und so rasant, wie sich das Medium und mit ihm seine Benutzer veränderten, änderte sich auch die Funktion, die eine "richtige" Webseite für eine Band erfüllen sollte. Die Spielplätze der ersten Generation, Gästebücher und Foren, sind heute verwaist - schnelle Kommunikation, flüchtige Kommunikation - Social Media Plattformen veränderten die Art und Weise zu denken, zu agieren, zu kommentieren. 

Insofern ist der Neustart von www.reitermania.de der Versuch, dem flüchtigen Chaos und der Schnelllebigkeit von sozialen Plattformen etwas mehr Tiefe und Struktur zu verleihen. Das Leben ist zu bunt, als dass es sich in einer linearen Timeline darstellen ließe. Wir haben uns zusammen mit unseren Partnern Brainsquad, die nun seit über 15 Jahren alle technischen Entwicklungen der Webseite mit hohem persönlichen Einsatz betreut haben, einen komplett neuen Ansatz gewählt. Hierzu war es unvermeidlich, die alte Webseite in seiner kompletten Stuktur aufzugeben, denn wir möchten Euch da abholen, wo das Internet heute vor allem stattfindet: auf dem Smartphone. 

Eine leichte Navigation mit Daumen und Zeigefinger, die wichtigsten Informationen zu Videos, Songs sollten schnell erreichbar sein. Dies alles vor dem Hintergrund sich ständig verschärfender Gesetze, Stichwort Datenschutzgrundverordnung. Gewiß, man hätte noch vieles mehr einbauen können, zum Preis von zusätzlichen Abfragen, Checkboxen etc. Also haben wir einen Mittelweg gesucht. Wir werden das Rad nicht zurückdrehen können. Ihr werdet weiterhin auf Facebook und Instagram mit uns direkter und schnell kommunizieren können, als dies hier auf www.reitermania.de möglich sein wird. Aber ihr habt nun die wichtigste und aktuellste Reitermania Datenbank immer nur einen Klick entfernt, egal ob ihr einen Song downloaden oder streamen möchtet. Interview CHINA - 2010

Now 20 years ago, on 04/01/1999 www.reitermania.de officially went online. I can still remember how I went twice a week to the computer center of the University of Jena to "pick up" my electronic mail. It feels a little surreal to remember this time. The then "new thing" called Internet overrolled everything and everyone faster than you ever thought possible. And as rapidly as the medium changed its users with it, so did the function that a "real" website should fulfill for a band. The playgrounds of the first generation, guestbooks and forums, are orphaned today - fast communication, fleeting communication - social media platforms changed the way of thinking, acting, commenting. 

In this respect, the relaunch of www.reitermania.de is an attempt to add depth and structure to the fleeting chaos and fast pace of social platforms. Life is too colorful to be represented in a linear timeline. Together with our partners Brainsquad, who have been responsible for all technical developments of the website for more than 15 years, we have chosen a completely new approach. For this it was inevitable to give up the old website in its complete structure, because we want to pick you up where the Internet is today: on the smartphone. 

An easy navigation with thumb and index finger, the most important information to videos, songs should be quickly accessible. All this against the background of constantly tightening laws, keyword data protection basic regulation. Certainly, one could have built in much more, at the price of additional queries, checkboxes etc.. So we looked for a middle way. We will not be able to turn back the wheel. You will continue to be able to communicate with us more directly and quickly on Facebook and Instagram than you will be able to do here at www.reitermania.de . But now you have the most important and up-to-date Reitermania database only one click away, no matter if you want to download or stream a song.
